Are we lost? Adventures in walking…..

Exploring paved walking paths in our new neighborhood is fun. We enjoy the exercise and viewing new areas. Recently a friend shared if we walked a certain route, we would complete over a mile of walking. Great! Each day, Alan and I try to walk for a longer period of time and get those steps registered on the wrist band counter.

After chatting with our friend, we were determined to remember his directions. Off we went on the adventure to get the mile and more completed. The sights were amazing. Colorful hibiscus flowers blooming, butterflies dancing to and fro landing on lantana plants and egrets and herons gliding with their wings spread in the breezy air. Beautiful!

Until….we forgot the directions of our kind friend and realized we had no idea which way to turn at the next corner. Should we go straight or make a turn? The thought of being lost entered our minds. “Are we lost? Should we call Mike(our son) to come find us? How far have we walked?”

I reached for my cell phone only to find we were in an area of no coverage. How does “no coverage” happen in this day and time? Pausing momentarily to focus on our surroundings, we prayed for God to lead us in the right direction.

A simple prayer of “God, we might be lost. Please lead us home. Thank You.”

We turned a corner and familiar sights appeared. God always answers prayers. Alan and I are looking forward to walking the same route again and finding some new paved walking paths, too.

I had to giggle because we were not far from home at all. Silly Mimi. And, yes, we walked over a mile.

Have you ever felt lost in life? Remember to turn to God. Ask Him to guide your steps in the right direction. 🙂

Have a blessed day,

  1. I’m glad you are getting out and about. I think the best way to learn where you are in your head is to get lost. I love that God helped you find your way again. Have a blessed day!

  2. Several weeks ago I got lost downtown, trying to get to work. It was 5:30 in the morning and I came upon a detour down an unfamiliar street. Needless to say, I was scared at first, but I prayed to God to lead me in the right direction. I’m happy you found your way too, Mimi.

  3. I’m glad your walk had a happy ending, Melissa. And I’m glad we’re never out of range for God to hear our prayers for help. I’ve been lost a couple of times–not fun. It ends sooner and better if I remember to call on the Lord right away. 🙂
    Blessings ~ Wendy
