My husband, Alan, uses a CPAP machine at night, due to his sleep apnea. He has used the machine for years. The constant humming of the machine helps relax me and helps me get into a peaceful sleep. More importantly, the machine helps him sleep more peacefully and breathe much better at night.
Recently, during the night, I woke myself up snoring. How embarrassing!! Even after 37 years of marriage, I still get embarrassed about things like snoring and the like. 🙂 My sweet husband says he never hears me snoring. I know better, but, isn’t he sweet to say he never hears me snore? I love that man.
The other morning, Alan left for work and I snuggled back under the covers for a little more slumber. As I lay there breathing in and out, trying to get back to sleep, with each breath, I could hear a sound like a “tap, tap, tap, ” in rapid succession. The sound seemed to happen with each of my breaths.” Oh, no. Am I getting another sinus infection? Am I snoring even when I am awake?” These questions kept racing through my mind, as I wondered how to make the sound stop. I changed positions on the bed and adjusted the covers. I kept telling myself that this really didn’t make any sense. I felt fine.
Then…. the truth. I held my breath for just a few seconds and still heard the sound. OKAY!! It wasn’t me after all. I threw back the covers, got out of bed and went to the window. Looking into the forest behind us, I saw the culprit. A beautiful woodpecker!!!!! I had to laugh out loud and I can imagine that God was laughing right along with me.
I am constantly amazed at how God shows us His love and His creations. That sweet little woodpecker and his “tap, tap, tap” started my day with giggles. Thank you to God for giving me laughter and the ability to laugh at myself.
Have you enjoyed any “laugh out loud” moments from God lately? Think about your day. I bet there are times when God wanted you to pause and laugh, and enjoy His creations. Even a woodpecker can bring His message.
Blessings and Happy Easter!
